Hello, I am Daniela, and in this video, you can see the importance of oxygen in the formation of indigo molecules.
In the first part, I will explain to you in a simple way the biosynthesis process of indigo. Then, in the second part – the experimental part – I will show you how we can conduct an experiment in an inert atmosphere, meaning in the absence of oxygen.
As you will see, when our experiment takes place without oxygen, there will be no color formation. Indigo – blue – only forms when oxygen can be present!
